Wrocław is the capital of Lower Silesian Region. According to official population figures for November 2021, its population is 641.2k, making it the fourth largest city in Poland. Over the centuries the city has been part of Poland, Bohemia, Austria, Prussia, France and Germany. Wrocław, despite losses in 2nd World War (70% buildings), preserved many buildings in original state, rest was renovated or rebuilt after the War. In February 2021, belonging to Financial Times – fDi Magazine published the report “Global Cities of the Future 2021/2022”, in which Wrocław was classified in 1st place among all medium and small cities in the world. Wrocław is the third largest educational centre of Poland. Wrocław has easy access to various motorways and express roads, which allows for quick connection with Poznań, Warsaw, Kraków, Dresden and Berlin. The city is served by Wrocław International Airport.

In Wroclaw, over twenty tram lines operate every day, whereas buses serve around fifty routes. The first daily buses and trams start running after 4 a.m., and the last ones leave the routes about midnight. At night, there are thirteen bus lines that run from the most distant city districts through the centre. Night bus service is not very frequent – buses arrive every hour on the average. In Wroclaw, there are two ticket systems: single fares and a system of time fares. There are also long-term tickets (season tickets). Transporting baggage and animals requires no additional ticket.

Tickets:
Passengers travelling with MPK are obliged to hold a single or a time-limit ticket, which can be purchased at designated points or ticket machines. They can be found in the vicinity of bus stops and in MPK vehicles. The latter accept credit cards only (pay pass included). The languages available in machines are: Polish, English, German and Ukrainian.
