Medical University of Lublin
Prof. Agnieszka Ludwiczuk is currently an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Pharmacognosy with the Medicinal Plant Garden, Medical University of Lublin, Poland. Sine 2020 she serves as a Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Medical University of Lublin.
Agnieszka studied chemistry at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and received her Master’s degree in 1998. In 2005, she obtained her Ph.D. degree in pharmaceutical sciences from Medical University of Lublin, and in 2015 she finished her habilitation. From April 2007 until March 2010 she worked as a postdoctoral at Tokushima Bunri University, Tokushima, Japan, under the direction of Prof. Yoshinori Asakawa.
Her scientific output to date comprises more than 90 scientific papers published in international and domestic journals concerning natural products chemistry, separation methods, extraction techniques, and biological activity. She is also coauthor of monograph entitled “Chemical constituents of bryophytes: Bio- and chemical diversity, biological activity and chemosystematics” published in the series of Progress in the Chemistry of Organic Natural Products, and 7 book chapters.
Her research interest are on the bioactivity-guided isolation and the structure characterization of compounds from medicinal, aromatic and spore-forming plants. She is particularly focused on terpenoid constituents present in liverworts species as well as their endophytes. Her scientific interest cover in addition the assessment of the suitability of specialized metabolites present in the liverworts, for correct identification of the plant material and for determination of the intra- and interspecific relationships.
WALA Heilmittel GmbH
Clio Vidal is a creative perfumer and graduated from the ISIPCA-Promotion Mane. She worked her entire career in the fragrance Industry, starting in the UK in 1999, with Bush Boake Allen Ltd, later with CPL Aromas Ltd.
She was an active Member of the British Society of Perfumers (BSP), with a few years as a Council Member. For 8 years she was in charge of Perfumery Creation for CPL Aromas GmbH that served middle and north Europe, with fragrances for all types of categories. Her Passion for Naturals made her start her own business as a consultant for the organic cosmetic and aromatherapy market. In 2019 she started working for the pioneer and premium organic cosmetic label Dr. Hauschka, part of the WALA Group, a phyto-pharmaceutical company for anthroposophic medicine, with its own research Department.
She is a full Member of the Société française des Parfumeurs (SFP) as
well as the Deutsche Gesellschaft der ParfĂĽmeure (DGP).
Chair IFEAT Scientific Committee, Founder Allchemix Consultancy BV
Alain dedicated 30 years to the field of renewable materials, from soft extracted forest products such as turpentine and its perfumery chemical derivatives, to aromatic plants for distillation into essential oils. With his training as a biologist and his business experience, his quest to understand natural and synthetic ingredients has led him to gradually gain access to a global network of producers, processors, traders, scientific and regulatory experts and hundreds of manufacturers of fragrances, flavours, foods, and cosmetics.
Active in various fragrance and flavour organizations, Alain has devoted much time to supporting the industry, in particular the International Federation of essential Oils and Aroma Trades (IFEAT), which he chaired for several years. He currently chairs IFEAT’s Scientific Committee and is involved in various IFEAT projects related to aromatic plants, pesticide reduction, biodiversity invigoration and proactive thinking in the face of climate change.
Curious and determined to better understand our complex world of F&F, Alain has travelled the world, visiting many remote locations, to learn how raw materials are produced and meet the people who extract them. Alain founded his consultancy company Allchemix BV in 2020. He has a scientific background (Master’s degree in biology, UniversitĂ© Libre de Bruxelles, 1988) and a commercial background (special diploma in management, Ecole de Commerce Solvay, 1991).

University of Torino
Carlo Bicchi has been Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Torino since 1990. His main fields of research are development of analytical technologies for profiling and fingerprinting of biologically active specialized metabolites in vegetable matrices (essential oils, terpenoids, phenolic compounds and alkaloids) and aroma of industrial food crops (coffee, cocoa, hazelnuts, olive oil and tea). Main topics: Sample preparation; Gas chromatography (GC, GC-MS, Fast-GC, Multidimensional GC and stationary phases), Enantioselective GC, High pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC, HPLC-MS), Supercritical fluid extraction and chromatography (SFE and SFC), Chemometric methods, fingerprinting and profiling.
Carlo Bicchi’s scientific activity is documented by 325 publications in international Journals, and more than 350 plenary lectures, keynote lectures and communications and seminars.
Awards: Mai 2018, Giovanni Dugo’s medal from the Interdisciplinary Group of Separation Science of the Italian Chemical Society; September 2019, Arnaldo Liberti’s Medal from the Division of Analytical Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society; October 2021, COLACRO Medal from the Latino-American Association of Chromatography and Related Techniques.
University of Messina
Dr. Paola Dugo is a full Professor of Food Chemistry at the University of Messina (Italy). She received a degree in chemistry from the University of Messina in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy from the same University in 1996. Her research focuses on innovative chromatographic techniques and multidimensional techniques (heart-cutting and comprehensive) in combination with mass spectrometry for the study of complex natural matrices and food products. Prof. Dugo is the author of more than 250 scientific papers.
In 2016, she received the “HTC-14 award” for the most innovative contribution in the field of hyphenated techniques in chromatography and separation technology and in July 2017 she was awarded with the “Giovanni Dugo” Medal for the outstanding work in the field of Separation Sciences applied to Food Chemistry.
Prof. Dugo has been coordinator of the Group of Food Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (2019-2021). She is editor of Journal of Chromatography A (Elsevier).
University of Niš
Niko Radulović obtained his Ph.D. in bioactive natural products chemistry at the University of Niš. He developed his postdoctoral research career at the universities of Nice (France) and Tokushima (Japan), and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids (Dresden, Germany). Currently, he holds the position of Full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics, University of Niš, and heads a research group involved in the interplay between organic synthesis and analysis. He is the current Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics. A part of his research is devoted to the analysis and biological activity of plant volatiles, especially essential oils. Up to now, he published over 250 papers in renowned peer-reviewed journals. In 2019 and 2020 he was placed on the Stanford University world’s top 2% scientists list.
University of Johannesburg
Prof Ben-Erik Van Wyk is a Professor at the University of Johannesburg in the Department of Botany and Plant Biotechnology. He is a plant taxonomist with a research interest in ethnobotany and economic botany. He has authored and co-authored more than 380 scientific papers, 20 books (including ca. 50 editions and translations), 30 taxonomic revisions, and more than 100 new species and other taxa. He is best known for his series of international full-colour reference books on useful plants, co-produced by leading international publishers and translated into several languages. These include global reviews of Medicinal Plants, Food Plants, Herbs and Spices, Mind-altering and Poisonous Plants, Phytomedicines, Cut Flowers and Garden Succulents. In 2013 he was awarded the NRF/SARChI National Research Chair in Indigenous Plant Use, to focus on ethnobotanical research and the documentation of plant-related indigenous knowledge. He was a recipient of the two highest national awards for botanists, from the South African Association of Botanists (the SAAB Gold Medal, in 2015) and from the South African Academy of Science (the M.T. Steyn Award for Natural Sciences and Technology Research and Excellence, in 2020). He has supervised numerous postgraduate students, many of whom received prestigious awards and 10 becoming professors themselves. He is an editorial member of the South African Journal of Botany (Elsevier), Subeditor-in-Chief of Diversity (MDPI), and regularly reviews manuscripts, theses and grant applications. He served on various NRF committees, contributed to research and development of natural products and organized conferences, including three international conferences and 24 annual conferences of the Indigenous Plant Use Forum, of which he has been re-elected as chairman every year since 1996.
CĂ´te d'Azur University
Nicolas Baldovini studied organic chemistry in University of Aix-Marseille. He obtained a Ph. D. in analytical and organic chemistry from the University of Corsica in 2000, working on the chemistry of natural volatile compounds. After two post-doctoral stays in the group of Prof. Solladié at University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg (2000-2001) then in the University of Tokyo with Prof. Koichi Narasaka (2002-2003), he was appointed assistant professor in 2003 at University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis. His current research interests are focused on fragrance chemistry, analytical and synthetic chemistry of odorant compounds, analysis of natural raw materials and structure-odor relationships.
